Exploring The Lives of Saints

Every Christian is called to live a life of holiness and be considered a saint. As Pope Saint John Paul II encouraged, “Do not be afraid to be saints. Follow Jesus Christ who is the source of freedom and light. Be open to the Lord so that He may lighten all your ways.”

Saints are individuals, whether officially recognized by the church or not, who have lived virtuous lives, sacrificed themselves for others, or were martyred, and are considered worthy of being emulated.

With marching orders from the Holy Catholic Church, we parents, teachers and guardians are encouraged to incorporate and exemplify the lives of saints within the family setting. We need to introduce them even to the youngest in the family. In this post, let us explore the lives of the saints and discover role models for the whole family

To fulfill this noble task, it is essential to read an explore about the lives of the saints and have a devotion to a certain, or certain saints. By doing so, we can effectively convey the virtues and teachings of the saints to the younger generation.

By introducing their stories, we provide our children with role models who exemplify holiness, humility, and compassion. These saints serve as beacons of light, guiding us towards a life of faith, love, and service to others.

“Follow the saints because those who follow them will become saints.” - Pope Saint Clement I

How did the saints become saints? In our age and time, most of us would probably find it hard to follow in their footsteps, especially the likes of Saint Francis of Assisi, Saint Alphonsus Ligouri, and Saint Teresa of Avila, saints who we know have led holy lives as religious. Can we, parents and all those who care and nurture children, be role models and inspire the younger generation to follow and emulate the saints?

Of course we can! With the Holy Spirit, our Blessed Mother Mary and all the saints to guide us, we can. Think about this quote I came across on social media, “If we don’t teach our children to follow Christ, the world will teach them not to.”

If our children are constantly exposed to celebrities, influencers, or any individuals on social media, they may become more interested in emulating their lives. However, I believe it is important for our children, and even ourselves, to have a deeper understanding of the lives of saints. Therefore, I have created and compiled various resources for the entire family to learn more about the saints and their extraordinary lives.

There are numerous saints whom each member of the family can emulate, and you don't have to limit yourself to just one. As you strive to grow in holiness as a family, take the time to read and learn about each saint, and then continue exploring and discovering more saints along the way.
